PCAS/ACAS Conference Announcement: Research on Evil Dead

I am presenting a research paper on Evil Dead at the 2013 Popular/American Culture Association in the South (PCAS/ACAS) annual conference in Savannah, GA this October (3-5). The paper is titled Infernal Affairs: Topics in Evil Dead. The abstract can be read here:

Through my research into various sources--such as The Atlantic, Fangoria, Hollywood.com, Slate Magazine, John Kenneth Muir's "The Unseen Force", et al.--I exam the characterization and general themes within Fede Alvarez's 2013 revision of "Evil Dead" and its relationship, its similarities, and its differences to Sam Raimi's cult-classic film series. Some of the topics within this paper range from gender identity to the use of violence in the horror genre; the current state of the genre itself, and the aestheticism of horror films as a means of artistic expression in cinema.

See you in Savannah,
Tim
